The Continental Tire Sports Car Championship is at Mid-Ohio this weekend for the EMCO Gears Classic, and as usual a host of Ford Mustang Boss 302R race cars will be vying for the win. Unfortunately things haven’t been going so well for Rehagen Racing, one of the most successful Mustang teams in the series’ history, with their No. 52 Mustang Boss 302R suffering a huge crash in one of the practice sessions. Apparently a brake failure caused the car to careen off track, resulting in a spectacular collision with the tire barrier.
Fortunately the driver is reported to be okay (we haven’t heard whether it was Dean Martin or Bob Michaelian), although the same can’t be said for the Boss 302R. We don’t know if Rehagen Racing will have time to get the car back on track for this weekend’s race, but we wish them the best of luck.
You can see footage of the crash in the video below.
